Our mission
To enhance treatment outcomes for youth struggling with mood and anxiety symptoms through translational science. We are particularly interested in improving outcomes for anxious youth experiencing significant co-occurring anhedonia (i.e., a significant loss of interest in things they used to find rewarding) and social stress.
By combining high-density electrophysiology with human-first experimental protocols, daisy lab develops open, evidence-driven pathways that translate laboratory discoveries into compassionate, real-world mental health interventions.

What makes a successful team member
Successful DAISY Lab members are curious, dependable, collaborative, and eager to learn. We value individuals who approach research with intellectual curiosity, think critically about scientific questions, and are motivated to develop new skills. Prior experience, while highly valued, is less important than a willingness to engage thoughtfully, seek feedback, take initiative, and follow through on commitments. Because our work addresses complex questions about youth mental health and neurodevelopment, we value team members who are open to diverse perspectives, committed to scientific integrity, and invested in creating a supportive and inclusive lab culture. The most successful trainees are those who are excited to grow as scientists while contributing positively to the development of others.
Our approach
The DAISY Lab is committed to training the next generation of clinical scientists in a supportive, collaborative, and intellectually rigorous environment. Our mentoring philosophy is grounded in developmental scaffolding: providing individualized guidance and support while progressively fostering independence, confidence, and leadership. We view mentorship as a partnership built on mutual respect, open communication, and shared investment in growth.
Beyond developing research skills, we strive to help trainees become thoughtful scientists, critical thinkers, ethical professionals, and effective communicators. Our goal is for each lab member to leave the DAISY Lab with the skills, confidence, and professional foundation needed to succeed in their future careers.
We believe mentorship extends beyond research training alone. In addition to developing scientific skills, we are committed to helping trainees navigate the often-unspoken aspects of academic and professional development, including scientific communication, career planning, networking, and leadership. We strive to create an environment where all trainees feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their goals.
